Shaquille O'Neal 1992 Upper Deck

Can someone tell me what the difference between these cards are. I remember that there was a redemption card put in series 1 packs. I'm assuming that is card #1. I think there were also cards in series 2.. i'm assuming those are 1b. My question is.. Is there a 3rd version or is the sp version just the card that is numbered 1 not 1b. It looks like some have sold for 50 bucks and some for 15.. just wondering what i'm missing. and please don't turn this into a bgs vs psa thread...

IIRC - 1a is the redemption card that was avaible in series 1 packs; 1b was the card they mailed to you in exchange for the redemption card, and 1 was the card you could pull from series 2 packs. I do not know which card is carries the higher price tag. If you're going to go with a Shaq card I'd go with the Beam Team.

Agree that the Beam Team card is the way to go. I am opening a couple more boxes of Shaqs rookie year this week including a Fleer Ultra series 2 box and a Stadium Club series 2 box to try and get a Beam Team version.

Those are both the same card. They were inserted in series 2 packs only, however both series 1 and 2 cards could be found in series 2 packs. The top of these cards say "#1 Draft Pick" at top.

The other type of Shaq from 1992-93 Upper Deck has "Trade Card" in gold at top. These were only available by redeeming the redemptions found in series 1 packs, which showed a silhouette dunking a basketball.

    No third variety exists.

  • The Beam Team PSA 10 is a good investment to sit on. There are not that many, and there are some that pop up on EBay. I just got bought my first I think for $230?

Once the Hall cones along it will jump a $100 easy.

The best card to get would be the 1992 Upper Deck "#1 Draft Pick" card psa 10
Stay away from the 'trade" card

    Just curious, but why?

It would seem like the trade cards being issued via mail might make them more prone to damage. I think mine were sent to me loose in envelopes at the time.

  • All the more reason to find it in a PSA 10. They were harder to come by in GEM condition.

I think Shaq RC PSA 10's at the right price are a great investment long term. The rare ones of course...

I thought the same thing... but the "Draft" card seems to sell much higher. You also couldn't pull the trade card from the endless supply of wax out there.
