The second I caught the ball I would have seen dollar signs. Not for one second would I feel bad at all. I have something that someone with alot of $$$ wants it. The ball might be worth $300,000 to $500,000.
<< <i>I can understand Jeter wanting to have the ball ... like him or not ... being rich or being poor ... it is really a special hit and Jeter deserves to have the ball. That being said, he deserves to have the ball AT A FAIR PRICE! This kid, even if he wanted to give the ball the Jeter, should have received hundreds of thousands of dollars from Jeter. Jeter obviously knows the value of this stuff (I'm sure Steiner has given him a dollar or two during his career). >>
I think people overestimate how much players want their milestone baseballs. Without the 3,000th hit ball, he still has one hell of a trophy case. If Jeter had to pay cash for it, I'd be surprised if he would be willing to pay over $50,000 for it.
I like Jeter, I always have and always will. I just can't understand why a guy like Jeter or anyone like that could take that ball back with all that he has....it boggles my mind....it really does. I don't understand how a guy worth $200-300 million (don't forget endorsements) would take it back. Now maybe something went on under the table, but I doubt it. chaz
I mean it's just fricken ridiculous........................... HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH?????? ....I guess it's not enough cause he took the damn ball just like most of them would. chaz
