Silly All-star game observation by me

Please explain why the home teams fans have to boo all the other players from the same league? Shouldn't the Arizona fans be booing the AL guys? This is not a new revelation on my part, i just thought i would see if that strikes anyone else as odd? I do understand regional rivalries and all that, but I would think for one night you could pull for your own league........or at least not boo.

I was thinking the same thing. This is an All-Star game. Why should they boo anyone? For some of these guys, it is their first...for others, it is their last...for a few, it may be their only. Why should the fans give these players the memory of being booed? It's pathetic, selfish and downright wrong. I guess that's just the world we live in nowadays.

It is odd and wrong. If they are in your league they are on your team. The All-Star game is the one time a year I cheer for Red Sox players.

    it gets better.

they booed Fielder. then he redeemed himself. how? with a meaningless 3-run jack.

now, ESPN has taken the K-Rod deal and swung the Brew Crew straight into homefield advantage for the Fall Classic.

they don't even need to play the 2nd half. image

Fielder was getting booed because he passed on Justin Upton for the HR derby. It seemed that most of the fans at the AS game were D-Backs fans, and they let the rest of the NL know it.

The fans paid for their tickets, so their obligation ends there, let them boo all they want. I didn't care. I especially liked it when they booed Giants players.

He has a good voice and does a good job of the play by play.

Once he steps into "critical thought" and/or opinions or off the cuff topics, he doesn't grasp the game as a baseball player nor as the average fan.

Therefore, his view is of a man that is a little too arrogant that doesn't relate to the fan nor the player....

The best is when Buck tries to "softball" Aikmen so points during the NFL games and Aikmen takes 2 minutes to answer because he can't believe how dumb Buck's remarks are....

Buck only got that cush job because of who his old man was. Truth is, as a sportscaster, JB couldn't carry Jack Buck's jock.image

I agree Buck needs to go. He's had the stage in the big games long enough. Time for some new blood-- like Vin Scully.
Back to the original topic. It made more sense hearing the boos for Fielder when you knew the reason. The fans felt he dissed
hometown player Upton so they dissed him back. After watching Ricky Weeks swing and miss and overall suck the fans wanted Cecil err I mean
    Prince to hear it.

Yes, and Joey Bats hit 1 more, so just a little less sucky?

How about Matt Kemp and his 1 fewer, was that more sucky?

Why single out RickIE Weeks? If you've never seen him hit BP, then you wouldn't know. And if you don't know, you shouldn't post about it. image

Horse hockey. Buying a ticket shouldn't give the "fans" a license to show up the game.

You consider booing to be showing up the game? It's part of the game. Fan participation. It's not like they're running down on the field to go after the players they don't like, or are throwing crap from the stands.

Fielder picked Weeks over Upton that's why the Arizona fans were giving Fielder a hard time. The fact weeks sucked added fuel for the fire for the 'zona fans.
That's why I singled out Weeks. Didn't realize he had family here. Sorry.

Maybe the fans were mad because all of the participants in the game last night were US Citizens?

Typical AZ crowd. I used to live there long before the DBacks were formed. There is nothing to do there buy drink booze and sit around the AC. It was a miserable place to live. I also noticed most of the people who live there are miserable as well. It doesn't surprise me AZ fans boo'ed everyone.

There's no chance that he picked Matt Kemp or Matt Holliday over Justin Upton. Only RickIE Weeks was picked over Upton. Shame on Prince. He must have missed the memo from the league that said he could pick his team except he had to pick the guys he's told to pick by fans who feel entitled to make the decision.

Upton has 15 homers. RickIE has 16. Why is this an issue?

    And yes, you are sorry.

So if 40,000 people came to where you work and booed, that's just part of your job?

We should all have enough respect for the game to set aside personal feelings toward regular opponents to celebrate the game one time each year.

I don't believe they sell tickets for people to watch him do his job, but if they did then yeah, people booing would definitely be part of it. I'm fairly certain nobody cheers for him at work either.

But Upton is the hometown guy thus the booing by the hometown fans. That is why its an issue for the Arizona fans. The things I have said are almost direct quotes from the talking heads from sports center & MLB network. It was said by them relating to the mind-set of the Arizona fan. Not sure why you don't get that and have to feel it's a novel concept I made up. Take it up with Harold Reynolds if you are offended with the view Prince should have picked Upton over Weeks.
