I know I showed this last year, but with Cal Ripken a semi-finalist in the All Star Game Greatest Moment Contest (winner to be announced Tuesday), I thought I'd share it again...
Whenever this time of year rolls around and they show highlights of past All Star Games (Rose, Bo, etc.), one of the clips they often show is Cal hitting a HR off the Dodgers Chan Ho Park, with Charley Steiner (then of ESPN), citing the words "Did he do it?...Did he do it?.....He DID!.....
A few years ago when Steiner was broadcasting with the Yankees, with the help of a friend when the Yanks came through Baltimore, I was able to secure his signature and his writing of his famous call on an Official 2001 ASG ball........I then was able to add Ripken to it....Steiner did tell me that it was first (and I suspect only) time that he was asked to sign a similar ball.....
