I have seen many interviews with him where the media would ask him what he will do with the game winning ball or his WS ring etc etc. The interviews I have seen he has always said he is giving it to his parents.
ironic is the debate over the preceived value of a ball when another man recently lost his life chasing one just like it.
Jeter Ball Guy will be fine....he will be paid for appearances on Letterman, The Today Show, ESPN, the list is potentially endless and fascinating, may we breathlessly await the published memoirs....."So, there I was just sitting there with a beer and pretzel and 'Ka-zaam!!', my phone received over 200,000 texts within a 15 minute period!! The fame is great and all, but who's gonna pay the extra 10+ grand because I didn't have an unlimited texting plan??!?!?!?"
<< <i>If he keeped the ball wouldn't he have to had to pay some ungodly amount of taxes on it? I think I remember a few years back someone caught a milestone homerun ball and couldn't keep it because he had to pay taxes on it?

Not only THAT, but remember the 1990s Wal-Mart contest where the grand prize was the Gretzky/McNall T206 Honus Wagner? The woman that won the card also was forced to sell it because she couldn't afford the taxes. I think the card sold a few years ago for $2.3M or so.
