Another HOFer lost. Wow. What a tough year! RIP Mr. Mackey. I had no idea until reading this ESPN article that MIKE Renfro was in the Cowboys secondary in the early 70's.

    RIP Mr. Mackay.
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

    << <i>ESPN Article >>

Mackey was an innovator, and I have a soft spot for innovators.

His health and memory had deteriorated for many years.

He will be missed. I am sure that many people on this board know how important he was to the TE position. I hope that Tony Gonzalez knows.

That was my first thought, too.

Pretty sure that he does. NFL Network had a little footage as part of it's item about John's death, showing the two of them together on a beach a few years ago, before Mackey's deterioration (I'm guessing in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl), with a ball discussing catching it and what moves to use afterwards.
