Last November I became seriously ill, I am 5'9" tall, there is a good reason that I am telling you my height and weighed 158 lbs and was considered at the time lean, no real body fat persay. Last week due to this illness I weighed in at 120 lbs and looked worse than the older brother in the movie "The Fighter".
People that I know around town would come up to me on the street hugging me out of know where asking if I was on chemo, it was that bad, I was also jaundice and my bilirubin was 3x the norm. Obviously I have been very weak and extremely depressed the entire time and the only thing that kept my spirits uplifted was my little boy, my wife and this hobby including this forum. I must say that I thought i was not going to make it, the doctors couldn't figure it out most of my close relatives thought I was a gonner. I didn't have any more weight that I could lose.
So I started to live like Tim MGraw's "Live like you are dieing" song. I turned myself loose buying the coins that mattered to me. Bear's announcement gave me inspiration.
And now the news, for the first time since November 2010 I gained weight, last Wednesday I was 121.75 lbs and today I weighed in at a whopping 126.75 lbs, yes 3/4 of a lb is important at this point in time and my jaundice is fading, and I feel a whole lot better and I started to work out a little. I just wanted to share this and thank you guys for keeping me somewhat sane and occuped these past 8 months.

I have spinal motor atrophy and have learned the hard way about following a doctors advice till things became very dire. Now its a crash course in understanding everything till it all fits, not only what the doctor is trying to do but also if he understands exactly what he's doing. On two occasions I was darn near ended because they didn't really know what they were doing. During my final visits, my aunt, a neonatal nurse practitioner, thankfully solved the issues upon records review. Her sailors choice of words in medical problem solving rocked a few doctors worlds. It was the best part of not dying

As anyone, myself included, who has ever SERIOUSLY faced mortality and looked it in the eye can tell you, each day is a GIFT from God to be relished. We all get caught up in the day to day distractions and get off course but "living like you are dying" ala Tim Mcgraw (great tune!!) really is the way to live. This life we are all living is not practice or a preview or an audition.....this is your one and only shot folks and when today is past....it is gone forever. Enjoy your coins, hug your family, and say "I love you" to those you care about EVERY day.

Get better so you won't have so much time to spend on this forum!
FWIW, acid inhibitors are completely wrong for many folks supposedly suffering from acid reflux. As you learned, it is just as likely you are producing too little acid as too much. Symptoms are much the same. HCl supplements often help. And a change in diet.
I am glad you are recovering nicely. I wish you more good health and a long life with friends and family.
