BBCE/PSA National Convention Promotion

BBCE/PSA National Convention Promotion
1. Purchase any unopened material from Baseball Card Exchange and open it at the BBCE booth. Cards must be opened at the BBCE booth to be eligible for this promotion. All other cards will not be allowed for submission.
2. Decide which cards you would like graded on-site with PSA. BBCE will place your cards in semi-rigids and submit them to PSA on your behalf. For this exclusive National promotion, the discounted grading fee is only $15/card; minimum five cards. (Regular price for PSA on-site grading at a show is $35!)
3. BBCE will take “before” and “after” pictures of your cards. These pictures will be for BBCE promotional use only.
4. You will be notified when your cards have been encapsulated and are ready to be picked up at the BBCE booth. You must show proper ID to receive your cards. If you should leave the show before your cards are encapsulated, BBCE will ship your cards at their expense during the week following the National.
ONLY CARDS WHICH HAVE BEEN PULLED FROM UNOPENED MATERIAL PURCHASED FROM BBCE AT THE 2011 NATIONAL AND OPENED AT THE BBCE BOOTH ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROMOTION.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message on Facebook, email me at ReedBBCE@gmail.com, or give me a call at (808) 372-1974. Hope to see everyone at the National next month! Thanks, Reed

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

To answer some of the questions-
Dboneesq: This is exactly what I was thinking when creating the promotion - the collector, PSA, and BBCE can all benefit from this. I was thinking about how to create a "buzz" around our booth, even more than the usual excitement of having hundreds of thousands of dollars in vintage wax.
Bobbyw8469: If a pack was opened and it appeared to be questionable, well then that's one of the benefits of coming to a show and opening it in the presence of the dealer. You'll be able to inspect the packs before purchase, get to talk to Steve (or me) about what to look for, then decide for yourself it the pack appears to be legitimately unopened. And, after all of this, if a pack is opened at the booth and the contents reveal it has clearly been resealed, you know BBCE will do what's right to rectify the situation.
Mknez: If we only had the space to create a VIP "ripping area" at our booth! I think convention floor space costs $10/square foot, so that could add up quickly! Think about that when you see how other companies choose to utilize the space within their booth.
We are going to fill the booth as much as possible so everyone will have numerous options of product to open. In addition to unopened material, we will have a nice selection of quality PSA graded cards (reasonably priced - this is not a museum), game used memorabilia, and in incredible selection of complete sets (including insert/subsets) from all four sports. We've had a pretty good year buying so far and for months Steve has been salting away a lot of good stuff just for the National.

<< <i>Reed, do you know if PSA be doing on site wax/cello pack grading at the National? Thanks, John >>
While I can't say for sure, I'll guess that they won't. If memory serves me correctly, the only size they will encapsulate at a show is the standard sized holder. Tall boys, packs/thick cards, etc. they have to take back to the office to be encapsulated.
Furthermore, even if they were to accept packs on-site, they would need Steve to authenticate the packs first. Between setting up the booth for the show, working with dealers and customers buying and selling product throughout the day, meeting sellers after hours to buy product, and getting some sleep, there simply isn't enough time for Steve to sit down to authenticate packs!

Since all packs will be opened in front of a BBCE employee, will that eliminate PSA kicking a card back for EOT and the like?
Also....
For those of you that think "well, $15 per slab is simply too expensive", I want you to keep a few things in mind....let's say you want to submit a card yourself, and are in no particular rush to get it back. That fine and dandy.
Whats that going to run you? At absolute bottom $5? then you have to pay to send em the card, pay them to send the card back to you, insurance on top of all that, and of course not only the wait time to get the card back, but what if it gets lost on the way there OR back from PSA? Keep those things in mind before proclaiming that $15 is too expensive.
Needless to say, I am mega pumped about this promotion and cannot wait to rip and submit!

GREAT question Eric ... Interested to hear the answer to this. Answer SHOULD be ... YES ... 100%.

OUTSTANDING question!!!!!!! Didn't a Jordan rookie that got pulled from a BBCE group rip come back 'EOT' when it was submitted?? If I was the submitter of that card, I would be FURIOUS!!!

It was me and yes I was mad but Steve got me the right contacts at PSA and the problem was fixed! EOT became PSA 9!!!!
Yes, in a perfect world anything that comes out of unopened material from us should not come back as EOT. But remember this world isnt perfect. Human beings will grade these cards and anything is possible. It happens to me all the time when when I open a fresh pack. It happened on the 86/87 Fleer box that was broke and the Jordans came back trimmed. Human beings grade these cards..not machines.
With that being said, a card may come back EOT. Of course, I will try to help out. NOW WITH THAT BEING SAID, I can already smell someone who is going to have a card that did not come out of our packs, but slips one in that came out of their pocket. PSA and I can only so what we can do. People have done this for years already. They buy boxes from us, they take them home and then come back with the cards for me to submit for them (We are authorized PSA submitters, so we submit for customers). So what do I do then? I cant say what happened to the cards once they left my sight. And I know that we can only do what we can only do with the best intentions of being 100% honest. But there are people out there who will do anything to make a few extra bucks, or even enjoy seeing our reputation getting knocked down a notch or two. So if something comes back EOT or recolored please remember. Human beings grade the cards and there are people out there who are already scamming to beat the system somehow. I know that 99% of the time, the submitters are honest and PSA does the best job they can. But anything can happen.
I and understand that someone is going to say that "we are watching the packs being opened". Has anyone seen our booth when it's busy? We will do our best. But that is about as naive as saying nobody as ever stolen anything from us either, when that has already heppened plenty of times too!

I understand your dilemna...I really do. I wish there was an easier/better way to handle things. You don't wish for someone to slip in a trimmed Jordan and try to get it graded. The consumer doesn't want to submit a raw card coming straight out of the pack and have it come back 'EOT'. I wish I knew the answer.
On a side note, I cracked out an SGC '3', that later BOTH companies said was trimmed. I was accused of trimming the card myself, when nothing could be further from the truth. Mistakes happen. However, the burden of proof is on the business, not the consumer. If the consumer gets burned too many times, he will just take his business elsewhere (best case scenairo), or leave the hobby entirely (worst case scenario) when he gets so disgusted at various experiences he has went through (whether it be a bad Ebay experience, a "trimmed/EOT" card fiasco, et al). The less people interested in this fine hobby of ours, the less money EVERYBODY makes!

Are You Attending The National Sports Collectors Convention?
If you've seen us at a show before you know we bring a truckload of vintage unopened product along with sets and single cards. As much as we want to, we just can't bring our whole inventory. So, if you are attending the National, and you'd like for us to bring something specific for you, simply do the following: Place a website order and in the "comments" section just let us know that you'd like to pick it up at the National. We will process your order, minus the shipping, and bring your items to the show for you to pick up in person.
This would really benefit anyone looking to take advantage of the BBCE/PSA National Convention Promotion!
