Opinions on how to list an ebay auction.

Tonight I was going to put up my 1975 OPC Nolan Ryan PSA 9 that I posted in another thread. My question is how I should list it. Should I list as a buy it now with best offer option, list as a regular auction with a reserve, or just list as an old-style auction starting at 99 cents? What do you think will get the best interest??

Thanks-
Claude

When was the last time one of these sold?

I'd go with the BIN/BO option... Use the auto-decline to eliminate having to deal with low ball offers...

One sold for $400 in October...is is a pop 3 with no 10's.

  • A card like that you can probably let it rip with a $0.99 auction. I'd go with 10 days for maximum exposure.
  • edit: wrong card.

There are only 7 registry sets for O-Pee-Chee and 157 for the Topps set. It will take a Nolan Ryan master set collector I would suspect.

I think a $0.99 auction if done for a 10 day could be a good bet or a Buy it Now best offer too.

The market for Nolan Ryan cards is pretty tight on rare issues so I think the risk of giving it away is small.

Otw how do you think he should price it for the buy it now option?

I would do a BIN/BO option for 30 days and if you get enough interest, but no sale then go with the 99 cents and let'er rip. That may give you enough exposure for some good bidding action.

    Good luck...Donato

Edited to add: You can also try contacting some of the Nolan Ryan Master Set Registry guys that don't have the card and see what they will offer.

Unless something changed I believe Storm has made an Ebay mistake....No Immediate Payment Required options for BO listings.....

I almost feel a sense of victory to see a storm error LOL

IPR can be included in a BIN/OBO listing.

It will require a BINer to pay immediately.

A BOer can still become a NPB, if he chooses to.

EDIT: This is the tag that appears on the SYIF when you list
    a BIN w/BO.

If this item sells by a Best Offer, you will not be able to require immediate payment.

Require immediate payment when buyer uses Buy It Now.

    .........

IPR can also be included with auction listings that include
the BIN feature. When the appropriate bid is placed - that
number depends on listing categories - the BIN expires
    and the IPR vanishes.

    ..............................

It appears that lots of sellers are using IPR with their "50
    free auction+BIN listings."

When the auction start is only 10% below the BIN, many
    of the listings include IPR.

This is a "manipulation" of sorts by sellers that really wanna
use BINs but also wanna list for free. (The BIN feature is only
available if the free auction format is first selected.)

    ..........

Pictures are always free in collectible cats - not sports mem,
stamps, coins - but during July, pics are free in most fashion
and jewelry cats, too. Good time to clean out the closet and
    the jewelry drawers.

BIN with best offer...dosen't sell in a month or two, then regular auction
  • Best interest? Definitely a no reserve auction with a low starting bid, but a high BIN or BO will assure the best price if you're willing to wait for someone to pay above the going auction price.
