Here's my next great find..

Last night was like any other, going through my late father's coin collection, and i was delighted to see a 1805 bust quarter tucked away nicely. What is roughly the value of that coin? Say if its condition is very fine.

I dont believe it has been cleaned, thats looking through my somewhat amateur eyes though. What are some obvious signs I can look for to tell if it has been or not?

Hairlines, dull surfaces, & no mint luster, or crusty like appearance are signs of cleaning...

Here's the only photo I've gotten so far. It's a pretty bad one I know, I'll try and get better ones, and of both sides too

That is not a VF coin. VG, maybe, and more like Good, IMO. Still a neat coin that has value.

These are neat coins in any grade, especially to find among an inheritance.

Your coin appears to be a B-4 variety, based on the close spacing between star 7 and the L in LIBERTY, and as others have noted, the grade appears to be Good-4 or 6, possibly VG depending on the reverse. (got a picture of the back?)

Here is an attribution guide to 1805 quarters.

Coin does not appear to be cleaned, but it is nowhere near VF. A very desirable piece none the less.

image I'm very glad to hear that it hasn't been cleaned, that was my biggest worry.. This one is definitely going in the "to be sent off" pile then.. Thanks everyone as always for the great input!
Oh and i'll post a picture of the back a.s.a.p, that'll bring the VF grade homeimage

Isn't a full rim required for a G-4 Good grade on these?
