Overall I'm happy but of all things I was disappointed that the '84 Yzerman rookie sticker didn't get a 9. Was also surprised that my Largent rookie got a 9 but the Lofton rookie didn't.

Happy with the Littlefield. I thought the centering might keep it from a 9, though.

PSA sure is tough on '86 Fleer basketball. Thought Barkley was at least a 9.

Oh, I got the Benjamin Carlson graded because he's a cousin of mine. He's no longer in baseball but I might have to give this card to his parents.

    I'm ambivalent about this sub.

    On the one hand I am psyched about the Indonesia card, as I got that for a couple of bucks and didn't expect a 9. I also am pretty happy about the Carlton rookie, as I paid $35 for it on eBay. The best is the 1978 Rookie catchers, as that was given to me by someone at work.

    On the other hand, I only got ten 9s out of the 30 77s I submitted. I measured each card using pixels and they were all within the specs for a 9. I looked at all corners under magnification, and any card that had even the slightest ding was not submitted, even if not visible without the magnification. Even the slightest hint of a tilt disqualified me from sending that card. I was hoping all of this care and caution would result in a positive outcome.

    So I expected maybe around 20 9s, and the rest 8s with a possibility of one 10. So to get the results I got is kind of lame. But, hey, I am 10 cards closer to finishing my 1977 Topps set!

    I got that card from Joe Daley's Sports Cards in Winnipeg in 1999. I knew it was nice but didn't expect a 9. On the other hand I only got a 5 on the '63 Parkhurst Beliveau which is a mystery to me.

    One thing you didn't mention and might have overlooked is gloss, color and registration. A lot of mint cards come out of the pack with surface issues like slight snow or poor registration and/or gloss and many times that is the difference between a true Mint 9 and a NM-MT 8.

    Can't complain about a PSA 10 on a 73 year old card, even if it's among a very strange mixed lot of quality. My quick review had them all around 7/8/9 but what do I know? image I'm looking at the 4 and 5's and see what I missed.

    Congrats on the PSA 10 75 OPC Jones! Some real nice OPC cards in that sub. Were they all from the group rip?

    One thing you didn't mention and might have overlooked is gloss, color and registration. A lot of mint cards come out of the pack with surface issues like slight snow or poor registration and/or gloss and many times that is the difference between a true Mint 9 and a NM-MT 8.

    I did check the surface in the light so that was covered, and the cards were pretty glossy. Also when I am going over cards for submission, any card with a fisheye (?) or stray printer mark is rejected. (Although I have many examples of cards in a 9 holder with obvious imperfections when it comes to that.) However, I guess it's more difficult with color or registration, as that seems to be more of a judgment call than anything else. Although I don't remember any poor examples of color or registration in the sub, maybe that is something that this particular grader was tough on.

    I guess I'm just bummed that going through 2 vending boxes, going over every card carefully, I wind up with ten 9s and no 10s. Just seems wrong! LOL.

    My results in full color. Only surprise here was the '63 Parkhurst Beliveau. Don't know what made it a 5. Needless to say the '71 softens the blow.

    Semic stickers are quite scarce in any condition so I was happy with these. Wanted a 9 on the '84 Yzerman, though. I also don't know why the box card only got an 8.

    Was happy on the Largent and Magic. Is PSA always really tough on '86 Fleers?

    I thought the centering might keep the Littlefield from a 9 but I'm not complaining. By the same token I think the centering kept the Yount from a 10. Thought the Lofton was 9 worthy. Happy with the Koufax 7.

    A little whitening on the black reverses probably kept these '73s from grading higher. Happy with the '77.

    Ben Carlson is a cousin of mine so I thought it would be cool to have his card graded. Even better that it's a 10!

    I've submitted this Molitor/Trammell three times now hoping to slide it by. I guess it ain't gonna happen but I guess it says something for PSA's eye.
