Cleaning, few questions

First, what are some good ways you can tell if a coin has been cleaned (so you dont get burned)

Second, are there any 'legit' or safe ways to clean coins (im just wondering)

fire away...

Send them as a gift to me and never worry about the problem again image

Really.. see if there are hairlines all in the same pattern... that could be a bad sign.

I'm not the best at detecting but:

Look in the hard places to reach (like small areas of lower relief) to see if there is grime where the rest is shiny.

If it looks so shiny almost proof.

If it has wear but is shiny.

If is has a textured sand-blasted type look (whizzing).
