How does this grade au 55?

Is this an example of how anacs grades. How this one is au 55 is beyond me

Also does anybody have any experiences with bob paul rare coins as well.

To clarify it is in a details holder

While there are AU details, PCGS would grade this XF sans the spots. With no luster, it wouldn't make AU.

Sounds about right then, ANACS graded it AU details corroded

I've bought from Bob Paul Rare Coins a few times and never had any problems.

You cant use a detail graded coin as to what an AU coin should or shouldn't look like, especially not a corroded one.

It looks like it has some luster. Nevertheless, I would say that PCGS would xf this coin and that is consistent with my expectations for both ANACS and PCGS.

I have heard it said that ANACS grades more circulated coins than the other services. Not sure if that is true today though.

It's just one of those coins where a poor photo can make it look disastorously over-graded,
as opposed to a great photo which leaves one scratching their head at why Coin X was graded a certain way.
