eBayer jonestownmassacre: PITA or dependable buyer?

my opinion is the former....i know of others who feel the same way, however, it seems this individual is rather selective and does occasionally pay his bills to guys like Rick Probstein...good on ya Rick!

so, at the risk of starting another firestorm like my brutal mistake w/Dave & Adams Card World, i beg the question:

why would some PITA be allowed to continue doing business on eBay when he ignores requests for payment, refuses to communicate with a seller, and lets an almost $300 transaction go stale? for the record, this PITA committed to purchasing a 1969 Topps #533 Nolan Ryan PSA 8, the same one i promoted here prior to my auctions......it's a damn nice card for an 8.

guess i'll keep it. image

all comments welcome.

would love to hear from YOU jonestownmassacre.

Who knows. I just had a $3,000 sale go stale. I filed the non-paying bidder claim, got the fees back, and the buyer is STILL on Ebay. I think Ebay has gotten really lax with the booting off of buyers anymore.

i agree....in communicating with a rep yesterday, every time i hinted at such a contention, he veered off in another direction....we know they don't want to lose a money grab, but don't buyers face restrictions after a certain number of NPB complaints??

    guess not. image

I think it's supposed to be 3 NPB strikes and the buyer is NARU'd...but who knows with ebay anymore?

Of all the great things about CU, one of my lease favorite is the consistent use of acronyms. What does NARU'd mean?

hence, my confusion.....so, here's a guy who seemingly has a strong presence as a buyer, yet finds it necessary to be selective AFTER committing to making purchases, refuses to communicate, and allows a sale to fall through....am i to assume that this person had the desire to simply pump up the value of my card as if he might be concerned about the value of another example currently in his possession, or maybe he found a PSA 9 example, or backed out when he found more pretty '61 or '62 commons to buy instead.

any way you add it up, he's an A$$HOLE.....i hope he doesn't make you miserable someday Rick, doubt he will, but just keep it in the back of your mind that your 10K cookie might eventually stiff you, too.

He stiffed me too on some purchases in the last few weeks. $100 worth of stuff, unreal.

  • +2 on getting stiffed from him
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

Douche. I hate to say this; but kind of like the bigger dealers who don't like to pay or communicate until you file the NPB and then payment comes right away. Alot of scammers out there...Alot.
  • we sell around 3000 items monthly on ebay....I'd say we have around 30 non payers per month...
its just part of the business...
we relist everything...sometimes they sell for more and sometimes they sell for less...
in the end its a wash...it would be great if ebay would allow you to automatically block people with 1 or 2 unpaid strikes so you
can avoid future problems...funny thing is, most of the non payers have more than 10 feedbacks...we have have good luck with new buyers...
