Unless I'm reading VCP wrong the Luz is about a $20 card.

We've all had subs like this before, and they're always a drag. Unless these are for your PC it does seem like $120 down the drain.

I don't have VCP, but the last Luzinski Mini 8's I remember seeing recently on eBay went for about 20-30 bucks, so I assumed a 9 would go at least 2 to 3x that much. It's a difficult card to find centered T/B (usually skewed toward the bottom).

Editted to add that if the OP is selling that card for $20, I'm a buyer all day long.

The market for PSA graded minis is very strong right now, and 8s will usually get your grading fee back, with lower pop 8s going higher than that. The Lynn RC is easily a $75 card in PSA 9, if memory serves. There's been some discussion on the set registry board about noticeably tougher grades in holders beginning with cert 188.., fwiw..

Also, as these minis coming from one of Steve's boxes will fill the holder, a Luzinski 9 will definitely command a premium. Not all 9s are created equal, especially when it comes to minis. The Yount would go for about $85 in an 8, too, so I think you did very well, overall, actually. Definitely got back 2x your grading fees.

Yes, I remember that minis with certs starting with 188 and 189 are graded strictly (but consistently IMO).

I was hoping for a couple more 9's, but I think I did pretty decent with Yount and Lynn. This was much better than the recent 1975 topps regular and 1977 Topps. I opened two packs of each, and I do not even have one card to send to PSA.

Grader 188 is one tough s.o.b on the minis. I literally prey that I don't get him every time I send in a sub and of course my last three have all been him. Never received a 10 from him on any mini and never seen one from him.

I don't know anything about the pops on these cards, so I can't speak to that. In fairness, though, I'll say that it's important to note that whether you can get 2x (or 3x, or 4x, or 15x) your grading fees back isn't the relevant question. The only thing that matters is the value added by having these graded. If You can sell the cards raw for $100 (a fair bet here, considering that a minty-esque Yount and Lynn are in the mix), and you can sell them in the holders for $200, you've gotten nearly 2x your grading fees back but you're still behind on the deal (assuming it cost you $120 with shipping to get them graded).

Fair point, but I've been following 75 minis for a long time, and have very rarely seen raw examples of even key cards go for any kind of premium over say what a PSA 7-8 would equate to even for minty-esque examples. Is it possible? Yes, it is. But in PSA holders, you're guaranteed to realize a profit on this sub, and any time you sub minis, all it takes is one 10 to turn that $5 card into a $500 card. It's happened to me on more than one occasion with this issue, and is why it's worth sending in better cards. For me, personally, there's also an element of enjoyment derived from the submission process itself, which I imagine appeals to most collectors, but maybe not to individuals who accumulate cards for the sole purpose of selling them for profit (I'm not suggesting, boopotts, that you are akin to the latter, just illustrating a difference in perspective between the hobbyist and the dealer).

You never know with minis as I have sent in so many box fresh minis that I though would reach the 9 spot however I just keep getting 8s which is ok in many cases. How about a Rick Burreleson in a 8?7 is the best I ever done with that one.I have only had a very few 9s in all my subs of 75 minis.
