Netherlands 1875 10 G gold piece

Received this from my mother today, as a birthday gift. I was pleasently suprised image
It was her fathers, ever so slowly she gives out various
gold coins. Interesting to me for it was my Grandfathers, and appears to be MS.
He collected world gold n silver coinage. I did a little reasearch to find the content,
which is .1947 of pure gold. Collectable grade? Worth slabbing? A couple tiny tics,
but pretty clean overall, 63ish?
Scott

EDIT: What's going on with the 7 in 1875, looks like a die chip?

Looks like a chip, but the pic is a little small to tell for sure.

Nice coin, looks like a die chip. Grandpa had a good eye for desirable and collectable coins.

Very nice coin, I don't know if it carries a premium in a slab but I would probably get it slabbed.

these years are considerd as bullion coins, 1875 - 1876 - 1877 , the value is only in the gold ---> 6 gramms pure.
most popular coin in the Netherlands for investors / gold bugs.
that die chip can add value though, not sure how much.

From what I have seen of them, including looking through dozens and dozens of them at banks in the Netherlands, it appears as though they were really never minted as a circulating coin that you bought something at the market with. It is kind of cool to be able to buy 130+ year old coin as bullion though. I only collect the 1897 Queen Wilhelmina ones myself.

Some larger shots, not the greatest pics, I've seen worse though.
Looks like a chip to me, and not part of the design. The digit 7 appears to have a
    glob of gold in it.

    Hi Saor,
Yes, I agree, the 10 guilder Wilhelmina ""hangend haar"" 1897 is a lot nicer then the ones from her father , King Willem III (nickname King Gorilla) 10 guilder gold coins.
and a lot scarcer too, these command a premium over gold bullion. I assume you have both the two sub types, pearls into the rim, and pearls loose from the rim.
as far as circulation , these 10 (and 5) gold coins did circulate in troubled times, especially in World War II .
the ones which never circulated were the rare Willem III 20 guilder gold coins from 1851 & 1853, just a couple of 1000 minted.

looks like both the 8 and 7 are dented , bag marks ?
and yes there is some extra blob of gold inside the 7 , I dont think it will add much value though,
but I'm not an expert in those kind of errors.

Is this the same as a cud, commonly used to describe US coins?

When checking for coins in the Netherlands I could find the Wilhelm coins very easily, along with the 1910's era 10 gulden of Wilhelmina. Then slightly less common were the 1932 dated coins. I never saw the 1897 coins, and yes I have paid a premium for really nice coins.

She really was a fascinating monarch, and the one Dutch monarch I have collected a lot of coins from. I really like the square stuivers from the early 20th century and of course the paper money too.
