It is interesting that in selecting my coins

I often find I prefer the look of the next lower grade,

to the higher grade, at a third the price. My obsession

is not with how high a grade I can get, but how nice

the coin looks overall.

That's because you aren't looking at *every coin*. You are just looking at a few being offered.

I doubt there are many coin types where the "best 68" doesn't beat out the "best 67". Possibly some, but very few.

Of course, that's if you have the option of judging all the coins in existence first image Certainly when checkout out a dozen or fewer there are many times that a way lesser registry-wise coin is the best "eye appeal" one of the bunch!

But your "investment" would be worth one third as much.

I bought a coin toinght simply because it was about to hammer for the same amount that I paid for the same coin but 2 grades lower. I guess my obsession is not letting anyone else get a better deal than me, how's that for idiocy.

It is an idiocy, devoutly to be wished for.
