Agreed, 97 is the king but if you are looking for a smaller but really nice set that is pretty affordable - I love the 2000 Don Elite throwback threads autos - HOF QB's plus Dickerson and Campbell RB's. The early Passing The Torch auto sets are also pretty nice.
Shameless plug alert: I am only missing 9 cards to finish this 70 card set. if anyone has any that they would like to sell please PM me to let me know what you have and how much you want.
The 1997 Legends Football Set is the Greatest On Card Set Ever. More Hall of Famers than you can shake a stick at. That set is amazing with over 170 Autographs and probably over 100 Hall of Famers and a ton of deceased players, beautiful photos and very few dark cards that take away from the autograph. There will probably be even more Hall of Famers in this set when Johnny Robinson and Jerry Kramer, and Jim Marshall and LC Greenwood go in. There are probably close to 15 Players that have autographs in this set that will be the Senior Nominees of the next decade. This set got me hooked on Football Autographs. Marion Motley's only Certified Autograph that isn't some Piece of Garbage Cut and a Jack Kemp Autograph that is not an autopen like the Prolines. The Competition is Over. 1997 Legends in a LANDSLIDE.
