If you don't know what you're doing and buying the card(raw or graded) from a non-trustworthy source then it's more important you're doing OK with authenticity. The greater the deal you're getting in price the better chance of getting stung with a Craigslist type Mantle.

The card is graded and I am comfortable with the seller. Just trying to cover my bases. image Thanks for the advice though.

I agree....this card is very popular amongst the "Craigslist Gang".......due to your homework, lest you get stuck with what you BELIEVE to be an authentic PSA graded card!!!!

There is almost a 100% chance that ANY such cards listed on
Craig's List are fake. The criminals use both real and counterfeit
slabs; they look "right" in scans, but "wrong" inhand to an
experienced PSA enthusiast. (The scammers have even had
a lot of success in face-to-face transactions. The scam relies
on the greed of the victims.)

The past posts on this board can be searched for full details.

The Gonzalez gang is operating their scam via numerous
CL listings. All roads lead back to an address in a San Diego
trailer park; a hop, a skip and a jump from the border, where
Big Mama is still calling the shots.

Their fave cards are Mantle, Aaron and Ruth, but they have
    many others as well.

The card pool is also polluted by the fakes. Numerous honest
victims have attempted to resell the bogus cards.

The FBI has LONG been informed about the criminals, but that
agency is busy with other things.

He's trying to buy this mantle from me, I just got reholder this card from SGC, you can call michael goldberg at SGC to confirm this, I just spoke to him two weeks ago.
I do not scam people, I have made a few transaction on this board, I've sold two jordan rookies to a guy on this board, 2 x j. robinson rookie, a collection of cards, i bought a few high value cards from this board as well
I always provide a large detail scan, pictures of every single card i sell on this board. Buyer can do a throughout review of the card before they make a purchase
These are the only cards i have left

    image

Please don't make judgement on people before calling me a scam.

I don't believe anyone here called you a scam. We just made a general warning to be wary of CL's fakes. We never saw the card he was interested in until now. Good looking Mantle.

No, as I had said in my original post, I trust the seller as he provided references and the card was graded. I just wanted to check VCP averages in case I wanted to cross over to PSA.

Not sure who mentioned Craigslist or scams, as it was not me. I think the sellers price is very fair and I am purchasing the card.

kinda hard to tell who called who what or what the hell you were even talking about when you delete your own post and change the title to delete.

    just sayin...
  • scmavlscmavl Posts: 1,409 ✭✭✭
Yeah, point taken. I had just asked for VCP averages and edited it to say it was NOT a raw or craigslist purchase when people asked. When I got the VCP prices, I deleted as I assumed there would be no more discussion.
