Does anyone have any information regarding Wayne G. Slife?

Greetings to all.

I was wondering if anyone has any information, or knows where to obtain information about Wayne G. Slife?

Per a brief comment on a lot from the catalog of ANR's New York Connoisseur's Collection: "... Among the interesting information to be gleaned from these citations [by Walter Breen in the back of his 1988 encyclopedia] is the consignor of the Bust halves in the February 1972 Merkin sale: Wayne G. Slife, the quality connoisseur whose beautiful large cents were sold the same year by Merkin."

The reason for my interest is that 2 of the coins in my collection are pedigreed to Mr. Slife...

I knew him well, played poker once a week, and he always brought his poodle with him to the game.image

He was, as Lester Merkin used to say, a "fastidious perfectionist". His Large Cents were wonderful. By the looks of those two Capped Bust Halves, so were his Half Dollars! TomT.

I realize this is an old thread but I thought I would comment if anyone is still interested. My name is Matthew Slife. Wayne is my father. He is now 95 and has been out of collecting for a while. His remaining collection has been divided among his children. He was a true connoisseur. His large cents and bust halves were amazing. I get a great deal of enjoyment looking at coins that he once owned. I am now carrying on his love of numismatics and growing my own collection around what I inherited from him. I'll be happy to provide any additional information if anyone is interested.

Share with us what your collection has become, that would be enjoyable. And welcome!
