Question about sniping and Ebay

If I set a snipe for something that I am already the high bidder on, will that snipe increase the price I pay if I win, or will it just increase my maximum? In other words, would I be bidding against myself or not?

It will only increase if someone else bids.

    Good for you.
  • Retract your bid ('entered wrong amount' - truth), set your snipe....and maybe you'll get a bit of a better deal on it.

What snipe sight is the best? I need to start using one. I have sucked lately. I either forget about an auction or I try to enter my bid with 10 seconds left and it takes too long to go through and I miss out... Or on really liquid items I just bid whatever the average selling price was...and get out bid aa few hours later with 5 days still left. I figure something like a 1990 frank thomas leaf psa 9 is pretty common and should be able get one for less than 15 bucks shipped. Nope.. when I bid 12.50 early in the auction it was up to 13 with 4 days to go. Its not a lot of money but its annoying.

I've used them all and BiddingScheduler.com is the my choice. You can access your watch list from their site and set snipes from there. Also, they email you if your snipe is surpassed before bidding is over. Free, unlimited, never had a failure.

    Edited to add:

To the original question, sniping is no different than increase ones bid later. No change occurs in price unless the first bid is surpassed.
