My new 2 Francs

Earlier today a buddy called up looking for an old fence board to display some silver jewlery on.
As payment, he handed over a 1918 2 francs. I'd never seen one of these before and right away noticed the similarities
between it and the Walking liberty half dollar.
As this coin type obviously came along first (late 1890's I believe), I now have to concede that what I've long considered to be
one of the most beautiful and original U.S. coin designs is actually pretty obviously ripped off from the French !

    Yes, and IMO the original French version outdoes the Walker - makes the later piece look a bit tawdry in comparison.
