Gregg, I second that, but my first pack my dad bought me wasn't until 1977. I also remember the countless hours we threw the baseball in the backyard. Great memories I'll never forget. Happy Father's Day to all the dads!!!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all of you dads. Have a GREAT day and be safe.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to my dad. He is 82 and still in good shape. He taught me a LOT about life. My dad was/is always there for me (and I am 53) ... especially the past few years, which have been very tough.
He was the one that threw the baseball with me over and over again ... and today he now plays catch with my daughter!
I always said that if I can be as good of a father to my daughters as my dad was/is to me that my job as a dad would be a success.
STAY HEALTHY!

This is my first Father's Day without my dad. He bought me a lot of packs of cards when I was a kid. He took me all over the place and we spent a lot of time looking at cards together back in the 70's. Still the best friend I ever had. Rest in Peace Dad.
I'm 38 and this is my 31st Father's Day without him. I'll never forget hearing how much he loved baseball and how he and my brother attended the 1970 All-Star game. Miss you Dad!
My dad taught me baseball and played catch with me for many hours in the late 50s and early 60s. He is still alive (77 years old), and we've never forgotten those days. God bless him and all the dads that spent time with their kids. And God bless my grandad who bought me many cards in the late 50s and early 60s.
Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.
I must have had two dozen balls hit me in the wrist before I learned to catch my dad's curve. He hit the ball farther than anyone I can remember... it went so high it looked like a pea and it took me years to finally get under one to catch it. He's still in great shape, but his eyes are going and he can't see the ball too well. He'll play catch with my 6-year-old nephew, but he can't really play with adults.
He also bought me my first pack of cards... 1981 Topps
And this is my first Father's Day! I've got a seven week old son... and he's already gotten a foul ball at a baseball game!: Boy's first foul ball!
Thanks Dad for being Coach, playing catch, and making time for Cub Scouts and helping me with homework. Even though it's not Mother's Day, thanks mom for not throwing out my cards, even when I left them spread out around my bedroom floor!
<< <i>Thanks dad for showing me what not to do to be a good dad. >>
What a shame Adrian. I hope that your dad and you eventually make peace. Good Luck.

Thanks Doug. Actually, we did. For the two years before he passed away, I had a decent relationship with him. He knew he was a mess, had gotten a lot better, and I accepted him for who he was. When I started my family, I knew how my dad screwed up, and learned from his mistakes.
