SO GLAD the lady at PNC was a )@*RY@Q()

So on Fridays I usually stop at the PNC on my way home from work because it's right there on the right hand side of the road and is a quick in and out to grab a few rolls of dimes and halves if they have them to spend the night looking through. I walk in like I always do, wait my turn in line and then politely ask if they have any half dollars. The teller tells me unfortunately she does not. I said ok how about some dimes?

She says sure and asks me how many I want. I say I'd love $100 worth but I'll take what you can give me. She turns to ask the woman at the window if she has any extra dimes because she only has $10. The lady at the window then proceeds to inform me that she knows that they've been giving me coins every week and that it's against bank policy unless I'm an account holder! That they need to save these rolls for clients with business accounts whom are going to use the currency where they work.

I then asked if I opened an account now if I could get my dimes. She said no she doesn't have time to deal with this right now. The nice teller apologized but I was pretty annoyed at this point and told her thank you and left. I've had some really good luck at PNC and won't let this lady keep me from going there. I was just going to get in my car and go home but said forget that I'm not letting her ruin my night.

I headed over to my bank and picked up what dimes they had available, about $30 as well as some nickles and pennies and then went to Chase! I asked if she had any halves and she said 40 dollars rolled and 3 in her tray! I told her I'd take it all. She hands it over and I notice 2 of the 6 halves from her tray are silver... 65 and 69. I then ask if she'd mind getting me $100 in dimes. She said not at all and quickly rounded up the dimes too! She was so pleasant I was sure to leave her my MD card so she could call me if she ever lost anything.

The totals are below and I'm still pretty stoked!

The aftermath:

5 Wheaties, 1 Merc, 1 Rosie, 2 90% halves, 7 40% halves

I have accounts at various banks around town. Today one of my tellers got the 10 silver British sixpences she wanted to give to her grandchildren as a "pay it forward" for saving me the goodies and calling me when they come. Over at the other branch the teller there got a gift card for a local restaurant yesterday for continuing to call me like when they got the $800 in halves and insisting I take them(yuppers, there were 11 40%ers in there). I have tellers in all my banks on the prowl, I am not above handing out goodies to insure I get the goodies and nobody else does. In my nickel search today I got a couple of silver war nickels and a buffer and a large handful of pre-1960's.

The bank that has the coin machine I dump the rejects into, I have them on the pay it forward system too. I take all their twos, Ikes etc that they don't like. I also buy older FRN's and even the occasional USN $2's and SC's they get.

That's pretty excellent! I get along very well with most tellers and know them by name. Good people. No idea what this woman's problem was though. CRH'ing is a heck of a lot easier than metal detecting and you can't argue with the returns!
