I have my eye on a coin locally, but text on holder seems strange to me. If you have some old PCI DMPLs, I would appreciate a look.

Some of the old DMPL, might only qualify as Cameo ,if cracked out and regraded.

You can still tell the difference though between the "new" 10 digits and the older ones.

Can someone explain the differences? Or, better yet, show us examples of the two types. I like the older 10 digit green PCI and own a few. For the most part they were conservatively graded.

I believe there are three ways, the first two are tougher to explain. The last one is easier and I do not have a picture demonstration unfortunately. So in my opinion, here are three ways:
1. The font is different.
2. The old ones have a 20 year "slab patina". I.e age and many paper inserts have yellowed etc.
3. The new 10 digits I have seen have a raised lip on the white insert around the obverse of the coin. I have seen ZERO early PCI inserts with a raised lip or bump in the plastic around the coin.

The 6's and 9's in both the GRADE and the SERIAL number should be of this style in the desirable ones. The ones reported last year
did not use this font, even though they had 10 digit serial numbers. (by the way, I have 2 good ones in my ebay listings)
