PSA newbie...first grades popped...UPDATE--Scans added.

My first post about my first ever PSA sub. I picked up a large vintage collection, signed up for the Gold Membership, and sent these in with the 6 free vouchers...

GOOD+ 2.5 1956 TOPPS 135 MICKEY MANTLE GRAY BACK
EXCELLENT 5 1960 TOPPS 350 MICKEY MANTLE
EXCELLENT+ 5.5 1960 TOPPS 316 WILLIE McCOVEY ALL-STAR ROOKIE
NEAR MINT-MINT 8 1962 TOPPS 387 LOU BROCK STAR ROOKIE
VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT 4 1957 TOPPS 95 MICKEY MANTLE
NEAR MINT 7 ST 1965 TOPPS 350 MICKEY MANTLE

How badly does the ST qualifier hurt the value on the 1965 Mantle? Thanks for looking and for any help!

Welcome to the boards Jeff. Any qualifier USUALLY knocks the card down by ~ 2 grades ... sometimes less. Are the cards for your personal collection or are you looking to sell them?
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Thanks for the info. I'll be trying to sell the cards to recoup some $$ on the collection I purchased.

    PM's are turned on now.

Thanks. The Brock was one of my favorites in the collection, even among the Mantles, Mays, etc.

Too bad about the ST. It only knocks it down 2 grades for registry purposes, not necessarily for pricing.

Was the stain on the front of the card? If so it could have been taken off.

Also, sometimes it can also be taken off the backs. 65's are tuff though.

If the card is for your collection I wouldn't worry, if the card is nicely centered and the stain
can hardly be seen the value will be less than if it didn't have it but it could still fetch a decent price
to a raw card collector who buys slabbed cards for a raw set.

    nice job and welcome.

Would like to see a scan of the Brock.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

  • I'll get them posted as soon as I get them. I'm excited and can see where this will get addicting.

I'm putting together a bulk sub for this month's special from this collection, as well.
