Quest for top 250 sportscards now at 218/250

Hi All,

Well someone wanted me to keep you guys posted on my, "road to the top 250". Here is number 201. Thanks to Jimrad for putting the deal together and scanning it for me. I will keep it going, but it is definitely going to slow down due to the cost of the remaining cards!!!!!!

By the way, I did get some of the cards from fellow board members, and they were the most reasonably priced, and the nicest. So thanks to all that have helped me and my 10 year old son Kyle.

I added a couple more of my favorites and I am now at 204 out of the top 250

I never noticed the 68 Topps Test basketball (Havlicek) is in that set. Yes, they're highly desirable but they were never actually publicly released and there are like 10 of each card known to exist. If they are going to have cards that rare on there I'm sure FKW could list a ton of more interesting ones - and how does the Zeenut Jimmy Claxton not make that list if cards with 20 or less examples are on there?
  • MBMiller25MBMiller25 Posts: 6,057 ✭✭
That's a hell of an accomplishment. Congrats!
  • VitoCo, it is an interesting set, and it is just one man's opinion. There are a lot of cards that I would have put on the list before some of the others. Also, if they are in too limited a supply, it makes it too difficult to complete even if you have "stupid money." Donald Spence is the only person to complete the collection, and I think a couple of others may finish as well. I have only been collecting the set for a little over 2 1/2 years, but I am sure I will never finish it. I was thinking 220-230 would be my ending goal.

<< <i>If you want to get technical, it is the 1948-49 Leaf Bob Feller. >>

in reality, no Leaf cards were issued in 1948, only 1949

This info has been known for quite some time now and its a slow process correcting the wrong issue date for this set.

Though some cards have a 1948 copyright not a single card was available until 1949 when they were ALL issued.

PS another example of a set with a wrong date is the W560 set, the books and slabs all say 1927, but in reality it was impossible to have been issued before 1929 (Hornsby is pictured with the Cubs)
