Best dates and types of Canadian coins?

I'm looking for a general idea of the best(most valuable) types and years of Canadian coins to look for among the vast collection I've inherited. I have hundreds of canadian coins here but compared to the overall collection thats nothing, so just any info to help me sort through these would be great.

Coins with Queen Victoria on them are usually more valuable. 1911 coins also.

    Ok, here it goes:

Canada coins: only still valid coins, that means coins dated from 1858 to present, are of interest, unless someone collects Tokens.

First, grade is very important, combined with scarcity and possible varieties.

Key dates are (all others have to be high grade without flaws to be worth money):

    Large Cents: 1858;1859; 1881H obv1a; 1882H obv 1a; 1884 obv 1; 1891; 1894; 1896;
    Small cents: 1922; 1923; 1924; 1925; 1936 dot ( $100,000 plus if real)

5 cents silver, smaller than a cent: 1858 to 1903; 1908 to 1910... rest has to be extremely high grade , EF40 and better to be worth some money
5cents nickel: 1925 1926 far 6; 1951 to 1954 some Varieties........rest has to be extremely high grade , EF40 and much better to be worth some money

10 cents: All dates from 1858 to 1910, some worth a lot if the right variety. they are silver 92.5.
1911 to 1936 worth some money above EF 40. 1936 Dot, if authentic, 50K and up.
    rest, forget it unless MS+
25 cents; 1870 to 1910 all grades, the better grades the more $
    1911

If you manage to get me your address, i will send you a latest Trends magazine via Canada Post. it lists every Canadian coin ever made with the latest prices by grades.
all I need is your address.

there are days with only 2 or 3 posts...
maybe it would be an idea to have a Canadian Forum section here.....
did you have a look at the 1875H 10 cent I posted here, and there?
need help with it... there is too much $$ involved.....

I would suggest looking for the higher-grade Victoria coinage, XF+ and above. Canadian stuff is infinitely more affordable than US so there are always people looking to locate other collecting venues. You may be able to sell some of the scarcer stuff by the piece, but almost all modern stuff (post WWII) will have to be in lots. All post-1920 silver is ,800, with each face dollar equal to .6 oz of silver. Any Royal Canadian Mint stuff is normally hard to offload . I would suggest a copy of Charlton or Haxby's annual coin book to look, study and decide where you want to go .. most libraries have one, but it would be a wise $15 or so to spand..
  • So far seems like the best i've found is an 1859 and 1894 large cent

Welcome to the grey side(cananda). I love those large cents. Many, many varieties. Can take up a whole lifetime just studying them.
