PCGS slow inputting orders

WindycityWindycity Posts: 3,603 ✭✭✭✭✭
My package arrived at PCGS on June 3--- still not entered into their system. So much for the 3 week turnaround on a regular submission.

If you want fast, buck up and pay for Express.

I submitted some coins in person at the Central States show on April 29th. They didn't get into the system until May 5th, or about a week later.

Mine have been taking 4 or 5 working days to get entered, after the post office says the box was accepted by PCGS.

Didn't they just get back from the Members Only show and Long Beach? Probably backlogged on orders as a result.

I had the same thing a modern and economy submission received on May 31 not logged until the 3rd (economy) and 4th (modern) even though mailed in the same package.

I just have to add that since their stats page show target turnarounds being very close to the actuals, it certainly appears possible that someone may be manipulating performance results by not logging orders until 3-5 days after receipt. Kinda gives me a bad taste with that opportunity existing. They certainly know when that 15-20 or 20-30 day window approaches the 20th or 30th day, as my last order posted on the 30th day and I've seen others report the same.

That being said, I don't intend this as a gripe as I recognize that "They'll get to them when they get to them." And I'm sure they are grading as quickly as possible.

Express turn around time is 3 days. You get what you pay for.

I don't believe that's true... I've been paying for my ex-wife these past five years and have nothing to show in return! image

All my submissions have always been entered within 24 hours of being delivered. Never had a problem in all the 12 years I've been submitting.

Are they actually not entered or is it just that you haven't been notified that were entered?

There was a problem with the e-mail notification sysytem for orders received a while back. I just check my order status online and all are entered within a day or two of receipt.

Honestly, I don't see why PCGS does not tag the submissions as received on the day they are actually accepted from the post office. Sure makes sense to me. Doesn't make sense to stall us off by almost another calendar week, the time between USPS acceptance and when PCGS finally gets around to entering the submission into their system.

Sure hope I don't get banished from the forum for saying this.

In my case the date received in the order system is actually the later date, I did receive the e-mail on the entry date.

Whether sending express or registered it doesnt matter, its the time they take to enter it into the system. 2 of the three I sent was expressed, but still took several days to enter into the system.

The other one was not expressed becuase it had a customers 40k coin in the package, thankyou

All I know is that whenever I send PCGS a priority mail package, it arrives in 2 days. And takes 2-3 days to input. This just happened again, actually. And I find it weird because any time I send a priority package to anywhere else in California, it takes 3-4 days to be delivered. :-/

I dropped off two submissions on Thursday, June 2 at the PCGS table at the Long Beach show.

Order #1 was a 50-coin modern submission which is showing in My Account as being received on Monday, June 6.

Order #2 was an 8-coin regular submission (w/ my annual voucher) which is showing in My Account as being received on Wednesday, June 8.

The past 3 months have been slow at the front end for me as described by others and about a week late on the back end for all types of submissions. Thus 30 day economy is running closer to 45 and 20 day regular is running just over 30 days. I had one group of submissions entered the same day, about a week after I dropped them off at a show and there was an economy raw group and an economy crossover group. The raw group was right at 45 days total (business days) and the crossover group was 10 days more, interesting at 56 days. Crossovers in my experience have tended to be a bit faster by 3-5 days but not this time.

There has been some slippage over the past 90 days, which i think everyone would like to see tightened up a bit. I'm sure our host is aware and will try and get back closer to the ideal.
