I need some help with a late date branch Mint piece. Is there a known variety of '45-S with inverted Mintmark?

There's a 1944-S IMM but haven't heard of one for 1945-S. Do you have any pics?

The Mercury Dime has a 1942-S Inverted S so it certainly would not be a big surprise for crazy things like that coming out of the mint in the 1940s...all types of crazy stuff was going on at the mint. Hopefully some Walker folks will chime in today and hopefully you can post photos.

coindeuce---- That isn't listed in Bruce Fox's book or in any other Walker book that I am aware of at this time. There is a 44S as has been mentioned. But, I can assure you that there definitely are other "oddball" things that I personally know about that ARE NOT listed in any book. It's only been in the last about 10 years that folks have had some interest in finding new Walker oddities. So, I'd say that it could be possible. Bob [supertooth]

Bump for DennisH to hopefully see this thread.....he has been assembling many of the walker die varieties, and seemed aware of many that aren't well known or published.

Looks like normally-oriented knobtail s mintmark to me, AKA at CONECA as ball serif mintmark. See this page: http://varietyvista.com/San Francisco Mintmark Styles.htm
