Anybody ever notice the tendency for PCGS to post strong toners on the PCGS COINFACTS Site?

When ever a toner is available, it gets posted as an example of the coin.

The SBA's a good example which depicts an MS68 with a toner MS65.

I always assumed it was to show off how they upgrade anything with color on it.

We put the highest grades we have images for. And try to do the condition census coins with images too.

Toning (attractive toning, and especially outrageous toning) adds to eye appeal and therefore can add a little to the grade.

We don't consciously try to pick toners, but I'm glad you like them cause I sure do too!

I personally don't see any classic gold or silver coin grading MS68 or higher without beautiful toning.
