Picked up a 1985 Topps autographed subset of the 1984 US Olympic Baseball team
I always enjoyed this subset as a teenager. Was always excited to open a pack and find one of the US Olympic subset. There were 16 cards that Topps included in the 1985 Topps set that pictured members of the 1984 US Olympic Team. Some notable ommissions that Topps did not include were Will Clark and Barry Larkin. I got this set from Heritage Auctions tonight. Came with a full JSA letter. I think the only two deceased people in this set so far are John Marzano and Rod Dedeaux.
I can't really call it a project as I began it and finished it in one auction.

<< <i>Rod Dedeaux is also no longer with us. I met his son in 2006 at the first College Baseball Hall of Fame Induction. His dad had passed a few months prior. Always made it back to Omaha for the CWS.

Thanks for the heads up on Dedeaux. I've changed my original post to reflect his death.

All those photos were taken in old Cleveland Municipal stadium at an exhibition game in 84.
I can still smell that old place.
Edited to add: The exhibition game was July 20 1984 in Cleveland.

<< <i>Hey Mike, Do you know when these cards got signed? The Billy Swift doesn't look like the ones I just got signed a few months back.
wow those look way different than Mike's - were they acquired in person?

Nope, I've got no idea when they were purported to be signed. I didn't do my usual research either on them as it was a spur decision to get them. I bought them all from Heritage Auctions. I have no idea what Billy Swift's sig is supposed to look like.

I got these from a private signing through SCN two months ago. If you check Ebay his auto's are a lot like mine. It's a beautiful set, but I question the Swift.

Yeah, I might have to swap out the Swift. I don't like questionable graphs. You wanna sell one of yours?
Mike
<< <i>Call off the dogs - the Swift is fine. It's in line with two that I got signed in person from Swift during the late 80s. I can post a scan later in between periods of the Bruins game... >>
Yep, I've been doing some research for the last half hour or so and I've found some versions that bear the same characteristics of mine. I'll keep it afterall
