Haven't posted here in ages (got lured away by the shiny, plasticky side of things), but I made the below post on another forum and was told that I should post it here too. Hope it's useful, and feel free to add to it! I'll edit in anything new to this post.

Also, if you have the third 2008 Matt Diaz panel (with Erstad and someone other than Schneider), or a 2008 panel with Jonny Gomes and a combination other than Eric Hinske and Clete Thomas, please let me know! Even if you're not interested in selling, I'd like to at least confirm that they exist.




Up until about a week ago, I thought that each player who was on one of the panels was featured only once in either the left, center or right position (or top, middle or bottom, depending on the card's orientation). At that point I found a few cards on eBay and the Beckett Marketplace which showed that one card can appear up to three times, in each of the said positions. The cards below are examples, first from 2009, then from 2008. In theory, there could be a continuous run of these panels, with each one "connecting" to two more (the next one for the 2009 panels shown, e.g., has Aardsma, Podsednik and Bradley). Yet Beckett does not list nearly enough combinations to facilitate all of these connections; either they do not exist, or Beckett's list is incomplete. Indeed, only 30 of the 65 past and present auctions on eBay represent cards on Beckett's list.

After going through all the eBay auctions, I've compiled a partial checklist for the 2009 Panels. I have listed 132 cards (along with an additional 11 cards which I presume exist, as the two cards that they would "connect" to have been seen). Since Beckett lists 97, and 54% of those listed on eBay were not listed by Beckett, I think that 210 cards is a reasonable estimate for the number of unique panels in this sub-set ([65/30]*97). Furthermore, 210 divides by three quite nicely, implying that there are 70 cards, i.e., thirds of panels, represented.

Let me know if this is useful, as I may also do 2008 if I have more time to kill (this took way longer than anticipated). Also, if you have cards that are not listed here, or information about the set, please post it! I'll add it to this list.

There are checklists in the various Heritage Threads. I have them saved somewhere on my computer and could email them to you.

I am still looking for these from the 2009 Topps Heritage Panel Set: Ramon Ramirez, Tracy, Lyon, McGowan, Baker, Bannister, Flores, and Pujols (I am looking for one card of each player, so if only one player on this list is on the panel, I need the entire panel).

And these from the 2009 Topps Heritage High Number Panel Set: Crede, Sadowski, Gardner, Taveras, Parra, Kennedy, Wilson, Howell, Scales, Gload, Mazzaro, S. Hairston, Hernandez, and Downs (I'm looking for one card of each player, so if only one player on this list is on the panel, I need the entire panel).

Both the 2008 Panels of Matt Diaz and Jonny Gomes are in the High Number ("Update") version of Hertiage. The players were series of players were commonly referred to as strings on these boards.

Diaz appears in the following string: Bruce-Wilson-Scherzer-Miles-Moehler-Francisco-Laird-Schneider-Diaz-Erstad

Meaning the only possible combinations of Matt Diaz panels were Laird-Schneider-Diaz and Schneider-Diaz-Erstad

Jonny Gomes appears in the following string: Bowker-Aybar-Rassner-Percival-Anderson-Span-Gardner-Hinske-Thomas-Gomes

Since Gomes is last he only appears on one possible panel the Hinske-Thomas-Gomes panel.

Hope all this helps. If you have additional panels for sale/trade I would be very much interested in them. If you need a list LMK as well and I can email them to you. I think I have all but 1.

I've posted checklists of the panels for each year since they came out ((2008). There are 88 panels for the 2008 "regular" series and both 2009 "regular" and high number series as well as for the single series 2010; the 2011 set has only 30 panels.
There should be 88 panels for the 2008 high number series, but there are eleven panels, each of which is the sixth in a string of eight, which do not appear to have been printed:

Walt, can't argue with that. I should have searched this forum first!

Good to be able to confirm that no more Gomes or Diaz cards exist from this set. It's interesting to me that I've been searching for Diaz and Gomes pretty much daily for years, yet never knew these cards existed until last week. I guess search strings without first names might have helped...
