She's been listening to talk radio on lunch and today she says "We need to buy gold." I respond "We already have silver."

Agree. Diversify and buy some of each.

AU is the smarter play, for now.
Tho, folks who have NO silver should buy a bit.
Would love to play again with silver if it drops in the $20/25 range. Will it get there?
Gold usually gets a more affordable during the summer doldrums, before the fall festival liftoff, but this year may be different (it might not drop that much with QE2 ending and debt ceiling issues here and Eurotrash drama abroad). Keep your physical Ag and buy some gold, research together, have some fun figuring it out--AGEs 1/10s have higher premium but very liquid, 1 oz have nice heft/ feel to them...warning: can be addictive! In our house we don't have separate accounts, but discuss big purchases.
Pick a number on the Au you like and start nibbling away. Gold is functioning more like currency, not commodity anymore, but still may have some swings. Nothing like the Ag rollercoaster though. Salt away and forget about it-- disaster insurance. moo, fwiw, ymmv, teho
Your partner, in life and in business.
Your lover.
The mother of your children.
Truly these are riches greater than any amount of gold. They can be neither taxed nor confiscated.

I knew it would happen.

that is 9x investment. Of course not all my silver was bought at that price but it will make my
point. At the same time silver was at $4 gold was at $350.
Silver is the better option and will be my focus again when I start building in two weeks. Sold
all I had between $30-50 and was happy to take my profits.
Silver could double but I don't see a double on gold, just my take.

Take her to the B&M and let her hold a 100 oz bar of silver in one hand and 2 oz of gold in the other.
Hmmmmm, she just might like the silver!

I agree that you are both right, diversify and buy some of each. I would like to do the same but right now all I can afford is silver. Gold is just too high for my budget right now, wish I'd listened when it was a lot cheaper. I did good on a batch of silver about 5 years ago but ended up selling most of it to pay off a bill. Man, if I'd kept that roll of silver eagles I'd be in pretty good shape now. Am trying to build my stock back up and it's tougher to do this time around....I have noticed it's getting harder and harder to find silver coins in change anymore. I was finding quite a bit for a while and lately, almost nothing. People must be picking through their change and taking out the older silver stuff.

Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
This is a trick question, isn't it?
So. That said, what is the best form to buy gold in? Denominational? Bars? Rounds? Which country? By best I mean: lowest premium, best liquidity.
By neccesity, we will be making fairly small purchases (appx $2k at a time)
Keep the great advice coming!
That's how it works here anyway.
