Are Ebay buyers taking longer to pay for auctions they have won?

I sold 6 auctions via Buy It Now on Monday and Tuesday. 5 are still unpaid. It is obviously not cause for alarm at this point, but I am used to receiving most payments same day or next day. Just seems odd. Also seems odd that thse are all dirk nowitzki cards and it almost seems like buyers are waiting until after game 2 to either pay or try to back out of their purchases...any coincidence?

I noticed on auctions people are taking longer to make payment. I have immediate payment required on all my BINs which eliminates the delay in payments. The auctions you can not require immediate payment. I am still waiting on payments on auctions from a week ago. Supposedly ebay is taking care of all my emails and reminders. It hasn't helped. In fact it seems to delay payments even more then when I could control emails to buyers...

Ebay recently decided it wasn't important that your purchases be made easily viewable when entering "myebay". When you had the info in front of you, it was easy to remember you had auctions to pay. Now that it isn't, it is easy to forget.

It's also harder to keep track of who hasn't sent items, as you can no longer removed entries from the items bought table. As a result, the items bought table is cluttered beyond belief.

agree 100% - the new format for items purchased is TERRIBLE. I liked it when you could delete items after receiving them

I've had the same problem with slow paying buyers lately. I'm waiting on five payments from auctions that ended last Sunday. But it does seem like people are taking longer and longer to pay these days.

If you have an iPhone or some such, download the free Ebay app. When you access my eBay from your mobile device, you can delete received items via your phone and they'll delete when you look via your computer. Just slide your finger sideways across the item on your phone and a delete box should pop up.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one frustrated by all this.

I've had everyone pay with in 1 day.

    I guess I'm lucky.

I agree about the My Ebay revamp... since when has adding a step to something been more convenient? In my case, I have 4 empty categories, and have to click the "all selling" link on the side to monitor my stuff. I've also had issues with people not paying right away. Thankfully this time it's someone with 70 feedback, so I guess it's just a matter of time. You mean to tell me there are people out there who don't compulsively monitor auctions they bid on and pay for it at the first second possible to attempt to get the item faster? image

Normally the problem is BIN with best offers... why can't ebay force payment after Best offer is hit?

Because when you accept the offer, the buyer may not be at his computer to complete the checkout process.

What would be nice if Ebay locked the funds of a buyer as soon as they made an offer and that would fix that. And probably easy to program too. If the BIN is already set to require immediate payment, then the B/O could also pop up a window stating that the sellers requirements are for immediate payment and if the offer is accepted, they'll be required to pay immediately , by having the funds locked for that sale, at least for a couple hours to give the seller a chance to accept.

And yes, I haven't had a buyer pay in less than a couple days in a month or so lately. All my sales are BIN/BO and 99% are accepted offers.

card buyers are the absolute worst as far as paying immediately for an item won at auction. Some of them wait 4 or more days and it baffles me every time. I had a guy just last week that bought 13 of my PSA 9 '72 OPC's that had to wait 2 weeks for a check to clear or something to pay a few hundred dollars. I pay right after the auction ends or the next morning if I set a snipe whether it's $10 or $10,000. I want my item asap, so why the wait on payment?

The "improved" My EBAY is definitely having a negative impact on
    usually prompt payers.

I am moderately skilled in the ways of EBAY and I still cannot get
my "new" screens to work like I want them to.

    .............

Obviously, folks with dedicated buying accounts should have fewer
problems knowing what/when they owe, but folks using just one
    account are reporting confusion.

Requiring immediate payment will get you paid right away, but it will also chase away many of your bidders and cost you money

You'll have to decide what is more important to you

Sellers of inexpensive BINs may well find that.

Sellers of expensive BINs are VERY unlikely to "chase away" anybody
by using IPR. "Free" shipping further mitigates against such chasings.

If IPR was not an option, I would have abandoned EBAY long ago. I
do not have the time/patience to chase folks for money, and I do not
want my shipping schedules/routines messed-up by late payers.

If ten items sell and only eight buyers pay promptly, I am forced to
undertake TWO packing/shipping "operations." This can cause multiple
trips to the post office, too.

    ...............

When/if EBAY ever launches its long-contemplated "universal shopping cart,"
IPR will be redundant. BIN items in the cart will NOT result in closed listings
    until payment has been made.
