RUBIO SIGNED ? ! ?

According to local 10 o'clock KARE 11 news, The Timberwolves have
reached an agreement with Phenom Ricki Rubio.

Kinda scary actually!

I don't know if Minnesota would do it, but if I were the Celtics, I'd dangle Rondo (and a draft pick, if needed) for Rubio and the #2 pick. I love Derrick Williams. Him and Rubio would be a solid foundation for the future.

There was a lot of talk in Sac about drafting him. I think that's when we drafted Tyreke so that worked out. There was more debate about Rubio than any other player in that draft at least here locally. I'll be curious. I wasn't impressed as it seems the only highlights were a few clips of his great passes but his shot looked horrible and, if memory serves, he had very low averages for points and assists in whatever 2nd rate league he played in. I'll be curious how he does....

Why is that so funny? Minnesota is on record saying they are looking for veteran leadership, and clearly want to trade out of the #2 pick since they are already frontcourt heavy. Rondo is a known quantity that fits that bill. Rubio averaged a whopping 22 minutes and 6.5 ppg and 3.5 apg in Europe this year, and could very well be a bust in the NBA.

<<<but his shot looked horrible >>>

39% FG, 22% from 3 this past year. At least Rondo is a 50% FG guy (granted most are layups, but that shows how skilled he is at getting to the rim).

If you are wondering why I'm so eager to trade Rondo for a guy that on the surface is probably 50/50 to be a bust, it's because the Celtics future beyond next year is so bleak, I'll roll the dice on Rubio just to get Williams, and hope to get lucky down the road with another superstar.

Rondo is young and locked up for reasonable money the next 4 yrs (something like $11.5m per). The Wolves could grow just as well with him as it could Rubio.

All that said, it doesn't really matter what any team in the NBA does for the next 5 years, because the Heat are going to win 6 straight titles anyway.
  • I wouldn't bust this kid yet folks.....

Let's give him a chance....after all he is playing off a very
bad foot injury. He's a pure point guard, and all the clips
I have seen he has incredible court smarts and knows
    where to play.

I am not really all that high on him right now either, but....
I wanna give the kid a chance....
