Question about accepting a money order for EBAY sale

A buyer has been trying to paypal me for a $149 purchase he made a few days ago. Seems as though his paypal comes from outside US, though his confirmed address is inside the US. He continues to get messages saying that the seller (me) does not accept outside of US paypal payments. Now he wants to send me a Citibank money order. Any problems for me as the seller? I will obviously wait to make sure it cashes properly..and then mail it with DC#

The ebay buyer has 455 feedback at 100% .

I don't see a problem with it....just make sure the money order has all the identifiable water marks.

I'm batting 1.000% over the past 11 years accepting Money Orders on fee-bay! You are doing the right thing, "seeing that it cashes properly".

    Good luck!

There are A LOT of fake MO's.

Take the money order to your local bank and ask them to verify its authenticity. Don't send the item to the 'buyer' until the funds have cleared your account.

Make sure it clears the bank before shipping.

I've never had a problem with accepting a MO. You have more chance being screwed with paypal than with a MO, especially with an established buyer like that.

totally agree with this statement. By accepting the MO, you have more control over the sale.

Money orders are a winner every time as PayPal misses out on their 3% cut.

Why wait for the MO to clear the bank if the buyer is established?
  • money orders equals no refunds either theres no paper trail for proof of payment,, wont help with bad fb though,, m/o are good,,,j

    Good catch Guitar.

If possible bring the MO to a Citibank branch.
