Auction Pickups from last week that got delivered today... I think I paid a little too much but i liked them . Paid 65 total + buyers premium

    The large cent has been cleaned/dipped and the Columbian half appears to be a dipped AU, but I can't read the other coin that well. It looks to be a 4R of the Carolus III type and appears nice.

    Just a guess, but I think the center coin (1721) is a contemporary counterfeit 4 real coin. It looks like the copper center remains and its silvering has been long gone. It probably circulated as a copper base denomination for awhile.

    I still have the main curiosity of the center coin though .. seems to be a 1721 or 1771

    Seems to me that TomB may be correct ( And probably is )

    well, if it is Charles III, then it is dated 1771, of course.

    I agree that it looks like a contemporary counterfeit, but it also appears to be a 2 reales, not a 4. These are very collectible, and fakes are generally worth more than authentic pieces, at least in lower grades.

    It's not unusual for contemporary counterfeits to get the dates wrong. In fact, that's part of their charm.
