The 1868 "first cards" date is not accepted by some Euro collectors.

In 1872, Liebig released its first set of cards under the company name.

It is widely believed that the first Liebig-style cards - tho, not bearing the
Liebig name - were actually produced and distributed prior to the American
Civil War. If true, these cards would predate the Peck and Snyder cards.

Wiki has a basic Liebig page. Liebig prolly produced more advertising cards
than any other company; their cards have a higher preservation rate than
any other trade card; they produced the cards continuously for a longer
period than any other card maker. Yet, Liebig gets no love in America.

Some Liebig cards/sets are extremely rare; most are not. Some sell for
thousands of dollars; most sell for a few dollars. Collectors can make a
nice collection of 100-year old Liebig cards on a very modest budget.

To me, the most intriguing element of Liebig is the unanswered question:
How did so many cards survive two world wars in EX+++ condition?

At least a STRONG mention of Liebig in wiki's "History of Trading Cards"
    is prolly warranted.
