  • As far as I know, its a wash with the series that I've seen therefore I would compare the coins based on eye appeal and cost.

The points are the same so I'd go with the most attractive coin. It's probably going to be the 68CAM.

  • Or even better a 67DCAM, which is same as a regular 69. Eye appeal should be your main factor.

  • Depends upon the year, if weights and bonuses have been assigned.
If you can provide more details, I'm sure somebody will help.

    I think a 68CAM normally looks better than a 69.

  • As far as modern proofs go until the sets are weighted they are equal - as far as points. Are you after points? I'm guessing even after the moderns are weighted it won't make much of a point difference except in some rare occasions. If price is not a factor in your purchasing I'd take a look at both coins (if possible) and buy the one that had the most eye appeal to me. I mainly collect CAM/DCAM coins but I also have some beautifully toned non-cameo proofs that I'd never trade/sell in a million years while I know I could almost always replace a typical cameo. Just a thought........ image

  • BTW Michelle - in one of my sets I have a PR69 listed even though I own a 68CAM. They were equal in points and equally difficult in obtaing. Last time I checked they were pop 2 and pop 4 coins. I liked the 69 much better so it's the one sittin' in the registry - and it was the less expensive of the two! image

I can't speak to other series, but with early Lincoln Proofs, you don't get any more points for having a CAM. For instance, a 66 red gets one point for red -- 67. A 65 Cam only gets one point too, which would make it only a 66, one point less than the other. To me it is not fair from this perspective, but I have vowed to finish out the 53, 54, and 56 in 67CAM, and be happy with the coins I want to collect instead of shooting for points. Maybe PCGS will recognize an additional point for CAMs sometime in the future.

  • CHECK THE SET . CHECK $100 PROOF PLATINUM IT STATES THAT SO MUCH IS TAKEN OFF IF IT ISN'T DCAM . PROOF IS THE LOW END .

THE WAY THAT YOU STATE IT I WOULD THINK BOTH WILL BE A 2 or 3 POINT DEDUCTION EITHER WAY .
