    Same here. Either snipe at the last second, or don't bid at all.

    How about Ebay switching to the extended bidding format that most auction houses use? If an item didn't receive any bids for the last 15 minutes of extended bidding, then it closes. A new bid would extend the close 15 minutes. A person could still snipe, but someone watching the item would have plenty of time to out bid the snipers.

    One point I don't see being discussed, two identical items listed auction-style the exact same way can sometimes sell for drastically different.
