how to ruin a collectible

Someone donated a bunch of new-in-box action figures (I saw Star Wars, Star Trek, wrestling, Indiana Jones, and some others I didn't recognize on a quick look) to a thrift store near were I live. I cam in browsing, mainly looking for sporting goods (I've gotten some autograph model bats and gloves here in the past). Two employees were busy taking them all out of the original boxes and throwing the boxes away. I asked them why, and they said the boxes would take up too much space. I told them the figures were worth a lot more in the box, and one responded that it was ok, because they were charging the same price, so they weren't losing any money.

Wasn't them - they would throw away the action figure and sell the box.

No, they would make you pay for the box and the figure whether you wanted to or not, then tell you that you could have it in three years. If you can't afford it, they would make other people pay for it. Then, they would throw away the figure, and you would get the box in 10 years.

If it were GWB, he would say that the country that produced the figurines was also using the plants to manufacture WMD's. He would then go to war against that country, thereby costing billions upon billions of dollars, not to mention countless American lives. So I guess it's all about what you can live with.
She before wrapping it up , but stickers all over the box and wrote lots of kids type comments all over the box and stickers . I wanted to cry for two different reasons. It was wonderful to see this game once again after all these many years. I , on the other hand , was horrified to see all the added krapp that ruined the value of the unopened box.

<< <i>I'm sorry if this heads in the wrong direction but.... Two years ago for a christmas present , my wife got me something really special. It was an unopened SI 1973 baseball game. In my little world , that was the first baseball board game I ever remember playing. Somehow she remembered and found an unopened copy.

Wow - that's disappointing - rarely see that one unopened due to its popularity.
Ya gotta love your wife - another will come along - eventually.

Wow - just realized that I may have confused the antecedents - I hope it was understood - I was talking about another game coming along - not wife.
