Does your coin have a thumbnail image when you verify certification?

Here's a neat trick I found out the other day. Not sure if it's common knowledge, so forgive me if it is.

If you go to verify your certification and you see a thumbnail image of your coin, this means it was imaged for coinfacts.

The thumbnail would look something like this:



If you investigate the location, you'll notice it's something like http://caimages.collectors.com/coinfacts/small/<your certification number>.jpg

Now, if you substitute /small/ with /large/ in the URL - you will see the high resolution image of the coin. True View quality without the PCGS background.

New info to me. Very cool. I was not aware that coinfacts included world coins.

Just out of curiosity, I looked up some world coins currently being sold on eBay and out of about 10 coins, 3 had thumbnail images on coinfacts. Whether they are actually being used by coinfacts - i don't know.

So does the coin have to have been submitted for True View in order to have a chance of being imaged? What would you suppose is the qualifying characteristic that gets a coin this treatment?

You know, I'm not quite sure. Perhaps bidask can tell us more, since the coin that started this investigation is the 8 Reales I bought from him at CICF.

Perhaps you have to be a member of coinfacts?

Ok. After some investigative work, I don't believe there is a coin facts for world coins.....yet.
