Tae Kwon Do

I just joined Tae Kwon Do today. After watching it through my 2 sons who are into it. I decided to give it a whirl. All I have to say is WOW! It kicked my old out of shape arse!

Good for you. TKD is tons of fun and has been a big part of my life. A word of advice to help you maximize the experience (and limit the pain!): STRETCH.

Brett ... I agree with STRETCH ... whatever athletic event you participate in, stretching is a MUST!

My youngest daughter (my Cancer Survivor) has been studying Mixed Martial Arts for almost three years. She is now 12 and a 2nd degree Brown Belt. Hoping that she passes her next belt test at the end of the summer ... if she does then she will begin studying for her Black Belt. The first 30 minutes of all of her classes is exercise ... stretching, situps, pushups, etc...
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Yes, 60-70% of the class I was in yesterday was stretching. I just woke up and I am really sore! LOL. I can't wait to go back to the dojang again.

Just an update. I have gone to the dojang 3 times now. I got my white belt and my first stripe towards the next belt (yellow). I am starting to get used to the pain. LOL! Tonight wasn't so bad compared to the prior 2 classes. At the end of each class no matter how much pain I am in. I feel like I accomplished and learned something when I leave. I also came to the conclusion. I am very out of shape for being a 39 year old image. This is the perfect work out I need to get back into shape and loose my beer gut! I am going to stick with TKD. I think this is a great sport to learn.
