"Scan available upon request..." ??

I see this on some Ebay auctions and BST threads.

Now, is this some sort of selling strategy, or just technological ignorance?

I think there's a difference between ebay and the BST boards, ie dealing with a stranger vs dealing with people I know thru the boards.

Last week, I bought a Killebrew 1962 PSA 7 from Ron Burgandy (harmless bump). I did not need to see a scan. I know what the card looks like and know what a 7 should look like. Plus, I have bought from Ron (bump #2) on several occasions and have NEVER been disappointed. Would I do that on ebay? Never.

On eBay, its the latter. 97%+ of eBay sellers are html stupid and rely on that garbage program that ebay has for uploading pictures

I agree with EchoCanyon's sentiments. I've bought or traded for quite a few cards here sight unseen. Maybe I am naive, but I have had good dealings and have built some trust in people. Also, on occasion I have sold/traded items here. Sometimes it is a listing of 200+ cards. I simply have no desire to scan that many cards if there is no interest. But, if somebody ever wanted to see a particular card(s), I'd be glad to do so. On ebay. I don't have that trust, nor have I earned it from people that have not dealt with me before. So, scan required.

I agree. I bought quite a few cards from members on the CU forums w/o seeing scans. If it were on ebay then forget it. No scan no sale. That is why I scan front and back on all my ebay sales. I really believe showing the entire card on ebay helps seal the deal. Also it brings in bigger coin in most cases.
