RIP: Paul Splitorff

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Paul Splittorff, the winningest pitcher in Kansas City Royals history and a popular broadcaster for the team, died Wednesday, 10 days after his family announced he was battling oral cancer and melanoma. He was 64.
The Royals said Splittorff died at his home in the Kansas City suburb of Blue Springs, Mo.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
After high school, he played for our local American Legion team that went to the American Legion World Series and finished fifth in the nation. Tom Lundgren, the current Yankees senior vice president for baseball operations, was actually considered to be a better pitching prospect than Paul on that team.
Everyone who knew Paul said what a classy guy he was and how he always had a smile and a very positive attitude. Very sad to lose such a great guy.
