I saw that, but I don't believe it's shill bidding as much as a newbie just going overboard with bidding up the item in tiny increments of like a dime more each time. Some buyers think that it's a psychological advantage to have numerous high bids thinking it'll discourage other would-be bidders. The reason I don't think this pack was shilled is because if he's going to do this on this item, why not on his other packs? He sold a GAI 7.5 1971 Topps baseball wax pack that ended tonight at a relatively low $213 or so. The last two GAI 7.5 1971 packs (sold by BBCE) went for $280+, including one just a few days ago, and though Steve obviously has a larger following than this guy, you'd think that if this guy were shilling, he'd have bid up the price of at least that pack, as well.
Edit to add: Most of these packs were graded by GAI long before PSA began grading (they are in first generation holders).

I agree. I don't see shilling going on. All I see is a noobie. The noobie could be using the dumb link ebay provides to bid the next increment. It looks like the noobie may have want to max bid $400 or something like that and used the bid next increment link until they got to $400. Or the noobie could have been trying to discourage others from bidding like mentioned b4. Either way all I see is a noobie not shilling.

I just had a newbie place 53 bids on a 23.00 item he won feedback 20 , I think he used the bid increment junk that ebay provides now, I would think if you are going to shill bid just put a snipe bid in with like 15 minutes to go and let it ride, not 53 bids LOL.
If you have the high bid, you can pad the bid in increments of 1 cent. Each additional 1 cent bid shows up as an extra bid.
This can also be a good "decoy" strategy if you WANT to be outbid. If you hold the high bid and the underbidder is close to your high bid, place a few 1 cent bids, it appears that you're padding your lead. If an underbidder wants to "punish" you, they may place another bid to make you pay more... only to end up outbidding your 1 cent bids and letting you off the hook for the card.
