Its a good launch , of some odd ball cards , for your Hunter set. The 74 OPC's are for one , very hard to find in top shape. Any way I'm sure the SSPC and Topps stamp , are great in 10's.

Good luck with you future subs and hunting for your future finds. ---- Sonny

    any ideas
  • Do you have a scan of the back? Usually when I've gotten a surprise like that I've missed a wrinkle somewhere, but that usually yields a 5.

I know BVG is not the greatest but to go from a 7.5 to a 4.5. looks like at least a 7 to me. Centering not much worse than this 75image
OK these two 1971 Topps Tattoos both got a 9 one is way smaller

I really like my 7 better than my 8 on the Milk Duds.

<< <i>It's way off center to the right and must have a serious surface flaw to get that low of a grade. That and/or the back has some serious flaws or surface missing. >>

Are we sure that is the case? We don't want to be mistaken and make a fool out of ourselves do we? image

Try not to insult them . They might get angry and then want have we done.

  • most logical reason would be a light wrinkle...
put under a lamp and let us know if you see it...
if no wrinkle ( check both sides ) , then crack out and resubmit...

    Morning,

This is one of the times it would be nice if PSA could give some guidance on how they come up with a Grade. I see a combination of several things, Back is way OC, front is somewhat OC, is that some sort of blemish above the AL on the top right, is the back top discolored, and what I think was the biggest downgrader is the Registry of the entire front is so off (Fuzzy). I think if you add all these things together somehow they came up with the 4.5, if you play the Crack and Submit game, re-sub time #3 or #4 it finds its way into a NM 7 or outside chance at an NM-MT 8

    Just my 2 cents!!

probably because of something that rhymes with Grease.

Any card that looks like that with a grade of 5 or below has a crease or wrinkle, you just need to find it.
Currently completing the following registry sets: Cardinal HOF's, 1961 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1972 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1980 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, Bill Mazeroski Master & Basic Sets, Roberto Clemente Master & Basic Sets, Willie Stargell Master & Basic Sets and Terry Bradshaw Basic Set
  • The crease may not have been there when you sent it in. That happened to me once on a beautiful 78 OPC Murray, grader must have damaged it when removing it from the cardsaver as when I got it back it was a 5 and had a new crease down the middle length wise.

I agree about the crease - likely the card was bent slightly, and there probably is no crease on the front, but there is a very mild crease on the back (or vice versa), in which ya can't see it on a scan.

I see what they are looking at, it is in between the M and the H where the name is on the front. Looks like a little squigly thing, seems more like a product of the weird card stock, I am just going to wait for a better centered copy rather than crack, maybe another 3 years. Card isn't really blurry think my scanner is not very good. Tried it at 200 dpi looks a little better.

Yes, the wrinkle could happen at the factory in the printing or handling process. I remember opening some 60's and 70's packs as a kid, and once in awhile I'd notice a card with a wrinkle. Wrinkles may have occurred more often because I may not have noticed it on some cards, and at the time, I didn't really care. The only thing that bothered me then was a badly miscut card.
