What's the best way to ship a card to be insured for $1600?

Ebay shipping only allows insurance up to $1,000.

$1600 is a lot of money for a card, be sure to go above and beyond in terms of "safe and secured" shipping. Insure it for the full amount.

usps.com allows you to print labels and insure for up to $5,000. I thought ebay shipping capped insurance at $500?

po will ask for invoice and only pay the purchase price, less postage ,not paid.overinsure if you want, you will not get more than invoice price.happened to me and the post master went to school with my younger brother.

I used Priority Mail small flat rate box with a bubble mailer inside. I insured it for the full amount and added signature confirmation. I debated Registered Mail w/ insurance vs Priority Mail w/ insurance. There was only a couple of dollars difference in price, but Priority Mail would get it there much faster. USPS insurance through Ebay is capped at $500. Ebay "ship cover" insurance is capped at $1,000.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

For items of that value always go with Registered...it takes longer but is much safer.

I always do small flat rate with bubble mailer and support inside. You can insure it for up to $5000 and I usually get sig. conf. too. I've never had a problem doing it this way.

Insured with signature confirmation. Registered is not on line viewable. You need to be PAYPAL compliant if this has anything to do with EBAY/PAYPAL.

Registered mail isn't a mailing option; it's an additional service such as delivery confirmation or insurance. You can purchase the registered option for either a priority package or a first class package. For an item of this value I would certainly have gone registered. Registered mail is kept in a separate bag and is literally handed from one locatoin to the next. Priority packages have a much higher rate of loss and damage.

    as stated previously REGISTERED!

A priority box with that much insurance on it is a target for a thief in my opinion.

Registered is sent in a locked bag or container and is treated like Evidence!
