Let's talk about coins! How does PCGS deal with laminations??

I purchased an Indian Head Cent that I am thinking about sending in to PCGS for slabbing. It has nice luster with minimal marks, and I would easily say it was a 63. However, it has a lamination or planchet defect near the date. The dealer I bought it from discounted it to me as an MS60 because of this. How does PCGS deal with issues like this. Will it be labeled a "problem coin" and be body bagged? Would I be better off sending it to SEGS?

  • I have to agree, bodybag more than likely.

I have managed to get a credit on a couple of error submissions because I asked on the phone if the coins I wanted to send in would be acceptable. They came backed bagged with the note "to minor to attribute" so I got my money back. Its worth a shot.image

I'd send it to ANACS, they do problem coins and if I'm not mistaken will desigate it a lamination peel.
